Yellowstone Snowmobile
Yellowstone Snowmobile:
Yellowstone National Park undergoes a transformation during the winter months. The tourist-filled roads clear, the landscape is coated with bright snow and ice, and the animals are heavy with their winter coats. During this season, most visitors prefer to travel by snowmobile, which offers the mobility needed to explore the landscape and see the park’s winter attractions. There are trails at Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Cooke City and Cody, each with several snowmobile rental facilities. Typically, the roads are open for Yellowstone snowmobile touring between December 15 and March 15 (weather and snow conditions permitting). Rental facilities will have all trail and amenity information available for travel within the national park and in national forest land. Yellowstone snowmobile tours are open to both amateur riders and experts alike, with training and safety equipment available. In years past, the national park was open without much restriction for snowmobile exploration, but it’s now required that snowmobile riders travel with touring groups within the park. However, there are still hundreds of trail miles outside the park available for independent exploration. The park maintains restrooms available for snowmobiling pit stops, warming stations for breaks between long stretches of travel, and there are restaurants and lodges scattered throughout the park lands for snacks and meals, and overnight stay. When traveling with a tour guide, visitors can expect to see Yellowstone’s many incredible landscape features, geothermal wonders, the variety of animals that call the park home and other unique attractions - many only found during the winter months.
